Safeguarding Statement

At Ysgol Tan y Gaer, we are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all. Our policies and procedures align with the statutory requirements for safeguarding children in education.

We have two DSPs (Designated Senior Person) for child protection. Gavin Cass (Head Teacher) Marc Jones (Head of Care). They have undergone appropriate training to fulfill their roles effectively.

The Designated Person is responsible for:
Implementing and monitoring the safeguarding policy.
Investigating suspected or actual child protection issues.
Staying updated with new guidance on safeguarding children.
Organising relevant training for school personnel and governors.

Governor Responsibilities:

Our governors play a crucial role in safeguarding:

  • They ensure that the child protection policy is up to date.
  • They appoint a senior staff member as the designated child safeguarding coordinator.
  • A nominated governor liaises with the safeguarding coordinator.
  • Safe recruitment procedures are followed for staff appointments.

Our Commitment:

  • The safety and protection of children are paramount.
  • We strive to create a non-discriminatory environment where everyone feels secure.
